Behavioral Health Technician- Applied Behavior Analysis

Job Brief:

BHT-ABAs are the face of Morris Behavior Coaching! They work directly with our clients and provide medically-necessary behavioral intervention under the supervision of a clinical supervisor. We serve children ages 18 months to 14 years. Our BHT-ABAs work in our client’s homes, schools, and community settings and maintain daily records of their client’s progress. They are an integral member of the treatment team and support the supervisors in creating effective programs for each client.

Responsibilities:

BHT-ABAs are responsible for direct, face-to-face behavioral health treatment with clients (usually children and/or adolescents diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or related behavioral health diagnoses). They will deliver skill acquisition and behavior reduction programming provided by their supervisor with fidelity, efficacy, compassion, and ethics while taking ongoing data.

BHT-ABAs are also responsible for completing and maintaining clinical documentation related to their billable (client) activities, time and content documentation as needed for non-billable activities, attending required trainings from Morris Behavior Coaching, and for maintaining their licensure and certifications, if applicable.

BHT-ABAs must participate in the MBC clinical competency assessment and feedback process, and must adhere to all company policies and procedures, as found in the employee handbook. BHT-ABAs report to case supervisor(s) (BCBA Interns, Assistant BCBAs, and/or BCBAs).

Requirements:

BHT-ABAs must obtain/maintain the following, at a minimum:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • A personal vehicle or other reliable means of transportation
  • High School Diploma
  • No experience requried for BHT-ABA Interns
  • 6+ months of experience required for BHT-ABA Is, IIs, and IIIs
  • State and local clearances, as assigned

Note: Clearances must be less than 12 months old as of start date.

BHT-ABAs must complete/show proof of completion of the following trainings and/or certifications (provided and paid for by MBC, if needed):

  • 30 Hours initial IBHS BHT-ABA Training
  • 24 Hours 6-month IBHS BHT-ABA Training
  • 40-Hour RBT course

BHT-ABAs must pass initial and ongoing competency assessments.

At MBC, we work with young children with autism and related diagnoses. This is an active role (as opposed to a desk job) where we are playing with and teaching young children. This position may require the physical ability to:

  1. Sit or stand for 1-2 hours at a time (with short breaks)
  2. Sit on child-sized chairs, sit on the floor, ride school buses, etc.
  3. Lift up to 40 pounds
  4. Climb stairs and/or playground equipment
  5. Get on and off the floor from a seated position
  6. Bend, squat, lean over, or otherwise perform atypical movements

Skill Development

BHT-ABAs are hired at MBC on a 90-day skill development period (either as BHT-ABA Interns or BHT-ABA Is, depending on experience). All BHT-ABAs receive hands-on training and a high level of support and oversight during this skill development period. The clinical director will complete the BHT-ABA’s initial competency assessment during the last part of this 90 days, and scores will be used to make a full offer of employment beginning on the 91st day. A BHT-ABA may move to a different position at this time.

Pay Range: 

$15 – $23.98 per hour
